Autumn KALs

wieke-kal

Here at C&W we are busy with autumn KALs- its a nice way to work with different yarns and to have contact with our customers and hopefully attract new customers to us!

Just finished ( It’s blocking as we speak) is the Brenna Cowl, from The Fibre Co http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/brenna-5. The patterns is simple so suitable for all levels of knitters but is interesting to knit as it uses  5 different stitch patterns and a lovely yarn!

brenna

The cowl uses 3 colours of The Fibre Co Cumbria yarn  – “inspired by England’s stunning northwest region with its deep blue lakes and sheep-grazed fells and valleys, Cumbria is a lustrous blend of brown wool from the English masham sheep breed, fine S. American merino wool and Argentine mohair. The resulting light brown-grey shade is then over-dyed creating lovely deep saturated colours. Cumbria is a staple yarn, perfect for garments and accessories alike.”

These colours are Hadrians Wall and Catbells – the third colour in our cowl is a light grey – Scarfell Pike .

You can find out more about this cowl on Ravelry in the I heart the fibre Co group http://www.ravelry.com/discuss/i-heart-the-fibre-co/3493786/126-150

And on Instagram and Facebook with the hashtag tfcautumnkickoff https://www.instagram.com/explore/tags/tfcautumnkickoff/?hl=en

And of course you can find a wide range of colours in the the Fibre Co Cumbria ( and canopy) at Cross & Woods!

The 2nd KAL on the needles is the Latvian sampler from Wieke https://www.wieke.com/category/breien/latvian-sampler/.

latvian-sampler

This is a 43 week long sampler that uses fair Isle techniques – and although not necessarily a beginners KAL, Wieke gives a lot of tips, explainations and help along the way.

Our KAL is knitted using a very traditional Fair Isle wool – Jamieson & Smith- it is one of my favourite yarns and has such a wide range of colours. And this too is available at Cross & Woods.

Week 2 is finished and week 3 is a much shorter section using two colours and purling! good practice for purling using contintental knitting!

For more info about joining the KAL check out Wieke’s website or https://www.instagram.com/explore/tags/latviansampler/?hl=en
