Nederlandse Breidagen 19 & 20 May 2017

Cross & Woods l Breidagen

We’re very excited  – for the first time we’ll be at the Nederlandse Breidagen in Rijswijk on 19 and 20th May!

So we are busy with all the preparation, and boy is it lots of work, but really nice work trying to decided what YOU would like to buy!

We have decided we will be taking just a few luxury brands that reflect our vision of Cross & Woods…… so we’ll have Hedgehog Fibres Skinny Singles. They have lots of amazing colours from soft pastels to bright neon, so you will be able to see how amazing they are in real life and not just online! We will also have spinning fibres from HHF!

There will be Cowgirl Blues – a great brand from Cape Town in South Africa. There will be hand dyed mohair, merino DK and fingering.
Cowgirlblues is a Cape Town-based dye house and design studio specialising in South African wool and mohair. Started by Bridget Henderson, who after an MBA at Insead, a stint at Luis Vuitton Moet Hennessy in Paris, and a successful career as a strategy consultant returned to Cape Town and took up knitting again, experimenting with texture, patterns and colour. Frustrated at not being able to find suitable wool locally, she decided to start spinning and dyeing her own, and so the Cowgirlblues brand was born.

Also in our collection for the Breidagen will be kits and books from Isager. A great yarn that needs to be seen and felt. The combination of working with several yarns together is a joy.

This Danish yarn is based in Tversted, a village in the north of Jutland close to the North Sea, surrounded by beautiful countryside. Isager was established in 1977 and takes inspiration from nature for the colours of the yarn in the collection. It is often a mother and daughter team that design the patterns – Marianne Isager and her daughter Helene – the patterns are simple, letting the beautiful yarns speak and their styling is amazing!

The Fibre Co will also be part of our collection for the 19 and 20th May. We, already, have Cumbria Worsted, Canopy fingering and Road to China Lace in the shop and for the Breidagen we’ll be adding to this collection – amazing soft yarns, taking inspiration for the nature around the Lake District in the UK, where the yarn company is based.

The Fibre Co.’s story began in 2003 in an old warehouse on the working waterfront of Portland, Maine, USA with a small spinning mill, lots of raw natural fibre and owner/founder Daphne Marinopoulos’ vision of creating yarns that she couldn’t find on the retail shelves. From these humble beginnings to today’s global brand now based in the United Kingdom, they work with a variety of producers and artisans to continue creating yarns that delight and inspire the enthusiast maker.

If you are in need of notions we’ll have Coco Knits with us! They have great, bright coloured stitch markers, blocking accessories and much more.

We’ll also be hosting the Yarn Tastings on Friday, where you’ll be able to try out lots of luxury brands from many different stores who will be at the Breidagen, so you will be able to satisfy your addiction straight away. There will also be a Yarn tasting on Saturday hosted by Rita Huijink with the same collection of amazing luxury yarns!

See you all on 19 and 20 May!
