Christen Brown first became interested in arts in crafts as a child and teenager immersing herself in classes that explored all manner of creative endeavors including drawing, painting, ceramics, jewelry making and sewing. She continued her education through El Camino College, Torrance, California, taking photography, design, lettering and mixed media classes. She has an AA in Fashion Design from the Fashion Institute of Merchandise and Design in Los Angeles, California.
Christen began her career in the Wearable Art field in 1986. Her work has been shown in galleries and fashion shows all over the world. She began teaching and presenting her work in 1991 and continues to exhibit her work with the hopes to inspire and encourage future creative minds. She began writing articles for several magazines in 2010, then moved on to writing books in 2011.
Christen’s published titles for C&T Publishing include Ribbonwork Gardens, Embroidered and Embellished, Ribbonwork Flowers, The Embroidery Book, Beaded Embroidery Stitching, and Hand Embroidery Dictionary. Her other products include Embroidery Stitching Handy Pocket Guide, Embroidery Stencils Essential Collection, Embroidery Stencils the Darling Motif Collection, and Embellished Art Embroidery Project Planner and Hand Embroidery Dictionary
Christen continues to be interested in creating, experimenting and experiencing all that she can. Specifically concentrating on technique and design of embroidery, quilting, ribbonwork, mixed media and beadwork. Her goal and wish through this awesome journey is to continually grow, be surprised and inspired, and to create new and relevant pieces.
