Simply living well – A guide to creating a natural, low-waste home is a collection of recipes, DIY projects, and inspiration for a beautiful and low-waste life, from Julia Watkins, the creator of @simply.living.well on Instagram.
Juliais a mother and a maker who creates and writes from her home in Chicago. She hosts the Instagram account @simply.living.well, where she shares about living simply, slowly, and sustainably, both at home and with children. Julia is also the author of Simply Living Well – a book full of recipes, remedies and tips that pay homage to the old ways in which our grandparents solved all manner of problems from feeding their families, tending to their health, cleaning their homes, and caring for their minds, bodies, and spirits.
Along with her husband, Scott, Julia co-founded Lookfar Conservation in 2016, a nonprofit that supports foundations, other nonprofits, local communities, and social entrepreneurs with conservation and restoration projects in Africa and Latin America. Although her background is in conservation science and policy as well a international development, she’s spent the past several years integrating the values of sustainability into her personal life – at home. On a good day, you can find her in her kitchen, experimenting with new recipes and remedies, making and crafting with her children, putzing around her garden with her dog Gus, riding bikes with her family, or checking out another book from the library.
