Skipwith is a pattern from Rachel that was first seen in the knitting book Daughter of a Shepherd Volume 1: Beginnings. it is now available as a loose pattern.

This is everything that Rachel wanted in a cardigan; light fabric, quick to knit, interesting but unfussy details and minimal finishing.

Skipwith was born out of a desire for an everyday, go anywhere cardigan, and will quickly become a wardrobe staple.

It is knitted in a sportweight – Ram Jam or Brume 4ply – taking between 2-4 skeins of Brume 4 ply. ( sizes 81cm -142cm)

The Daughter of a Shepherd journey began with the 2015 clip of the Hebridean sheep who graze Escrick Park Estate, shepherded by my Father, John Atkinson. Read more about how it all began over on the blog.

Rachel’s passion for the importance of provenance, collaborating with both shepherds, mills, designers and weavers has been a evolved of the past few years. She, also has a small range of limited collections of indie dyers who dye in their style using DoaS yarns.

With a firm commitment to using only 100% British wool from shepherds and producers within the United Kingdom, we aim to support all aspects of British manufacturing in our processing and production.

Skipwith is one of a small collection of patterns from Rachel, herself and stocked by Cross & Woods. We are proud to stock Brume, Ram Jam and Heritage Lace from Daughter of a Shepherd
