Swooping into Summer with knit and crochet patterns which will make your soul soar! For Issue 37, Pom Pom Magazine asked the designers to take their inspiration from the alluring textures and glorious colours of birds. These talented individuals have taken their cue and stretched their wings! We are so impressed with their imaginative interpretations of this theme as they have thought so carefully about every aspect of these animals: from the shape of their footprints in snow to their sky formations. Within the pages of the Summer 2021 collection, you can expect nine patterns which are as elegant and dynamic as the airborne creatures they reference.

Featuring designs by: ALLISON LUTES  // CARLIE OLFERT // CHLOE ELIZABETH BIRCH // KJERSTIN ROVETTA // KSENIA NAIDYON // SANDRA GUTIERREZ // SAIR NORDLUND // VALERIE RACHEL

In addition to 9 knit and crochet patterns, a recipe, an article, and a tutorial are nested into the pages of PPQ37! Fiona Churchmanblew us away with her recipe for Feather Bread (a pandan coconut milk loaf) inspired by the treats she used to buy from London’s Chinatown bakeries before lockdown! Be sure to read Solène Le Roux’s insightful musings on how birds and humans can adapt to their surroundings. And Nuria Casadella-Puigvert of GANXXET walks you through how to make colourful chains for your sunglasses and face masks for when you’re out and about this summer!
Included in your digital download of PPQ37 is a bonus tutorial from Nuria which shows you how to make a chain for your binoculars or camera – perfect for spotting birds and snapping a photo of them.

Pom Pom was founded in 2012 as a quarterly magazine that would present knitting, crochet, and craft in the modern, beautiful, and meaningful way. Mainly conceived as a collection of patterns complemented by thoughtful writing and useful tutorials, Pom Pom also celebrates the joy of making, hopefully without taking it all too seriously!

“Since our kitchen table beginnings, we’ve gone on to feature some of the most well-known and loved independent designers and yarn producers, with some of the less well-known also growing along with us. We are so proud and lucky to be able to say that Pom Pom is now stocked at over 250 locally-owned yarn and craft stores across four continents and 20 countries. At Pom Pom we know that knitters are creative, curious people – so we also include lots of other features we think you’ll enjoy – from cocktail recipes, to dyeing tutorials, to articles about 18th century paper cut artists! Basically anything we think will inspire you. We also take pride in every detail of our magazine, from the typefaces we use right down to the paper we’re printed on – knitters are tactile people after all! We have always been, and continue to be, printed in the United Kingdom.

Pom Pom continues to grow, and we very much value each and everyone of you along with us on the journey! We are so excited about bringing you more thoughtful, beautiful, joyful, educational, and inspirational knitted (and crocheted!) goodness for a long time to come.”
