Cross & Woods carries Cyrano, Gilliatt and Ulysse – these yarns can be found here

De Rerum Natura is a wonderful small yarn producer in France.

To make their yarn the fleeces are washed and freed of impurities and plant debris. The fibres are then carded to increase the amount of air in the yarn and mixed with other colours . These  fibres are spun into a first roving yarn which is then twisted three times for Gilliatt and twice for Ulysse. The yarn is put into hanks for dyeing or washing according to the colours. A completely biodegradable ecological softener is used by the spinning mill
The skeins are then wound into balls which are lovingly labeled with recycled paper in Rennes.
Gilliatt owes its name to the handsome, obstinate and constructive hero in Workers of the Sea by Victor Hugo and Ulysses to the hero of the Odyssey who is in love with his Penelope. They are warm and soft wools, beautifully wild while being very soft.
Gilliatt and Ulysse are carded wool yarns from a new breed of white merino bred in the Alpes de Haute-Provence and black merinos recently established in the Creuse thanks to the initiative of the Lainamac association and the spinning mill of Rougnat who takes care of all the stages of manufacture.
Albertine is named after the feminine character of À la recherche du temps perdu by  Marcel Proust.
