John Arbon Textiles – Yarnadelic Worsted is the big sister of Yarnadelic sportweight

The music-inspired shades certainly get the creative juices flowing and its beautiful, woolly bounce and soft feel makes this a go-to yarn for all sorts of gorgeous knits. By giving this yarn a rounded 3-fold structure, JAT has enhanced the fibres natural stitch definition and drape creating the ideal all-round go-to yarn for everything from cables to lace and garments to accessories.

The composition of Yarnadelic really lends itself to a thicker weight as Corriedale’s lofty nature means it won’t become too heavy even when used for a really big project.

Yarnadelic is 100% Falklands Corriedale. The breed is around 100 years old and was derived by crossing the Merino and Lincoln Longwool. It is one of our favourite fibres as its properties are a perfect balance of delightful softness and bounce from the Merino combined with the slight lustre and long staple length of the Lincoln Longwool – a fibre lover’s dream!

JAT’s Corriedale is farmed in the Falkland Islands – ensuring that the animals have been treated with the utmost care and are free from harmful mulesing. The fibre has then been dyed in the UK and lovingly prepared, blended and spun at the North Devon Mill.

Yarnadelic Worsted – John Arbon Textiles is a beautiful fibre from the John Arbon Textiles family mill.

John Arbon and his wife Juliet started the John Arbon Textiles Mill nineteen years ago.
John Arbon Textiles is based on a very simple concept: a return to old-style textile manufacture by sustainably sourcing raw fibre locally, wherever possible, and converting it in the UK into high-quality tops and yarns, rather than racking up air miles by chasing the cheapest available labour.

Their mill is one of only a handful of small-scale worsted spinning mills still operating in the UK. John likes to use fibre from sheep on their doorstep whenever possible and, with the help of his trusty team, transforms it into unique and sumptuous blends in the form of yarn and tops.

Rather than being focused on the outcome alone, JAT pours love into every part of the process. With great love and respect for the machines involved, the breeds of sheep and kinds of wool, John and Juliet will only work with fibre that excites them.

And that excites us. John Arbon yarns are wonderful yarns to work with. It’s one of those yarns that you knit or crochet with and you know your work will last for decades.

Have a look at John Arbon Textile’s wonderful video “A short day in the mill” or read more about their process and machinery here.

Besides the John Arbon Textiles – Yarnadelic yarn, we carry more John Arbon yarns which you can find here.
