‘Journeys in Natural Dyeing Techniques for Creating Color at Home’ is the long awaited follow up of ‘the Modern Natural Dyer’ by Kristine Vejar.
This book is an indepth guide to a wealth of information. Through the exploration of worldwide dyeing practices, the book compares and contrasts how people create color -in a multitude of shades, tones, and varietals- within different contexts, showcasing that the art of creating color is filled with endless possibility. The book will feature a number of new dyeing techniques along with detailed recipes and projects to replicate at home.
Kristine Vejar and Adrienne Rodriguez co-own A Verb for Keeping Warm. They love to meet people from around the world who share a love for textiles. They also love to teach people how-to use natural dyes. Kristine is the author of The Modern Natural Dyer (Abrams 2015).
Sarah Ollikkala Jones, a contributing writer and researcher to Journeys in Natural Dyeing, has managed the Verb dye studio for the past 5 years and is an avid natural dyer.
A Verb for Keeping Warm occupies a 1700 square foot space in Oakland, California and is comprised of a shop selling yarn, fiber, and fabric, two classrooms, two dye studios, and a natural dye garden. A Verb for Keeping Warm incorporates Kristine Vejar’s love for fiber and community. Through classes focused upon natural dyeing, knitting, sewing, spinning and weaving, and via the materials she carries, many of which support US based farms and manufacturing, she strives to preserve longstanding textile traditions and to support others working to create a textile-centered art practice.
Besides the ‘Journeys in Natural Dyeing Techniques’, we also carry ‘the Modern Natural Dyer’ and many more titles about natural dyeing.
