Merchant & Mills Sanded Cotton Twill- Boss COUPON

20,90

THIS IS A COUPON 150cm x 122cm

Merchant & Mills Sanded Cotton Twill- Boss is a  perfect fabric for trousers, dungarees or dresses that require some structure ie not a gathered waist, as well as lighter-weight jackets and bag linings. It has a utility look and feel to it.

Fabric is €19 per meter, the price listed is for 10cm

Fabric width –150cm

The fabric will be cut into 1 continuous piece when ordering multiple quantities

Due to the nature of the organic cotton yarn which is less refined and processed, there may be the odd white speck in this cloth.

Machine wash at 30, do not bleach. Iron on a medium heat. Do not tumble dry.

We recommend pre washing your fabric before sewing. Putting a large piece of medium-heavy weight canvas into the washing machine can sometimes lead to white creases in the fabric, this is because it is a stiff fabric so it doesn’t have room to move around. We recommend doing the following to help this not to happen:

  • Wash your fabric on its own for the first wash.
  • Sink your fabric in water before hand, letting it fully absorb, so you are putting in the canvas already wet.
  • If you can break up your fabric into half this will help.
  • For the first wash use a delicate 30 degree cycle with a low spin.
  • If any white creases develop, ironing on a medium heat whilst still damp will help.
  • Can be tumble dried on a low heat.

CAROLYN DENHAM AND RODERICK FIELD BEGAN MERCHANT & MILLS IN 2010 WITH THE INTENTION OF BRINGING STYLE AND PURPOSE TO THE OVERLOOKED WORLD OF SEWING.

Style: The decision was made to put style to work in the presentation and packaging, as a language that would attract the very people that had hitherto overlooked sewing. Equally, they were determined to include the steadfast makers and menders who had continued regardless of current trends

• Purpose: in supplying patterns, fabrics and tools that allowed the creation of a desirable functioning wardrobe. Merchant & Mills  offered a viable, wearable alternative to the increasingly indistinguishable options of the high street.

Merchant & Mills continues to grow steadily, evolving and developing as experience and ideas demand. Carolyn and Roderick now travel the world in search of unique and beautiful fabrics, finding aesthetic and practical inspiration along the way. Merchant & Mills products are stocked in the world’s most respected outlets and the company has successfully collaborated with London’s V&A Museum and Alexander McQueen.

New patterns and products emerge, never rushed to market, but slowly developed to be exemplary, desirable and pragmatic.
Their ethos is to respect the roots of sewing, from trade to home dressmaking, as we enable and inspire more people to find the satisfaction of simply making. To this end, they have published three instructive, illustrated books.

Carolyn Denham has a degree in Fashion Design and has worked in New York, Italy and London.

Roderick Field is a respected photographer with works in the National Portrait Gallery.
