Rib fabric is a double-knitted fabric with alternating raised and lowered rows. It’s more elastic and durable than plain knits, and it tends to fit the body. Therefore ribbing is often used for cuffs, sweater hems in T-shirts, as well as for the trims of socks, and, more generally, any edge that should be form-fitting. The elasticity depends on the number of knit/purl transitions; 1×1 ribbing is more elastic than 2×2 ribbing, etc.

Roze Boordstof – Eva Mouton, Rib

Eva Mouton graduated in Visual Arts in 2009 at the School of Arts in Gent, Belgium. She has been working as a freelance illustrator ever since. She has her own weekly illustrated column in the Belgium newspaper ‘De Standaard’. She does ‘live’ drawings, makes murals and works on individual assignments.

Eva also runs a small webshop with her work. Her online store was built in 2010, when she moved in with her beau. They received a bit of money from her grandma to buy a refrigerator or furniture, but instead they secretively bought a badge machine. She started making badges for her friends and family. But quickly she had the urge to design more than badges. In the following years her online store started growing bigger and bigger. Postcards, posters, magnets, stickers, sweaters, phone covers; Eva will put her drawings on almost everything!

Besides the Roze Boordstof – Eva Mouton, Rib, you can find her other fabrics in our store here.
