Merchant & Mills The Skipper

Little girl pattern for ages 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 years. Inspired by the classic sailor bib, Merchant & Mills  pay homage to the ancient port of Rye (where they are based).

Irresistibly redolant of carefree summer days and never growing up, the skipper is born to play. Featuring relaxed styling for easy dressing in rough seas, the Skipper has dropped shoulders and casual rolled cuffs whilst the neckline has an internal popper at the front V insert. The sample has been made using our Goodnight laundered linen. It id  recommend medium to lightweight woven fabrics such as denim, cotton chambray, laundered linen or lightweight wool. You will also need a plastic dress popper, approximately 0.75m of shop bought 13mm bias binding, matching thread and lightweight fusible interfacing. This pattern is suitable for an intermediate sewer.

This is a multi-size paper pattern in an envelope, including sizes 3 – 8 years.

Carolyn Denham and Roderick Field are Merchant & Mills. The company was formed in 2010 to elevate sewing to its proper place in the creative world, respecting the craftsmanship it entails. They produce a range of card patterns and really useful kits and in profound contrast to the pretty, flowery image of the average haberdasher, they present superb and unusual sewing of notions in stark, utilitarian packaging.
