Learn to sew course – sew a bag!

This course of two classes will give you the foundations to master sewing while at the same time making your first usable project.
We’ll teach you the basics of machine sewing in the first class. The second class is spent making your first bag, so that you can wear and use your newly sewn object immediately!

What will you learn? 

• The basics of machine sewing:
  how to thread and operate a sewing machine using different stitch settings, controlling tension and stitch lengths
• Sewing tools, their function and terminology
• You’ll learn about the anatomy of sewing patterns
• Different fabric types, how to choose the right fabric for your pattern
• Cutting out the pattern for your project
• To finish and press seams
• How to make your very first bag

What will you make?
In your second week, you’ll make a tote bag so that you can wear your skills as soon as possible!

Skills required
This class is perfect for newbies. No experience necessary:  our aim is to provide you with a solid foundation of sewing skills and confidence to start sewing any simple project you like!

Included in your class

• The sewing pattern
• Fabric for your bag
• A Janome sewing machine and overlocker, if needed
• 10% discount on everything you buy in our shop during the lessons*

Other materials are not included in the class. You’ll find everything from fabrics to match your pattern and haberdashery that you might need for your project in our shop. However, you are welcome to bring your own fabric and supplies.
We’ll provide plenty of tea, coffee, snacks and gezelligheid!

Please note
Our Learn to sew course is designed to include two lessons. Please make sure you are available for all two dates.
Due to Covid-19, we require that all participants wear a mask during the lesson. Your seat will be at an appropriate distance from other participants.
Classes will take place on Thursday evenings from 18.30 to 20.30.

Cancel your attendance
We have a 48 hour cancellation policy. Any cancellations that occur 48 hours or more before the scheduled lesson are eligible for a refund or (if possible) to be re-booked at no additional cost.
